We are celebrating our tenth anniversary, and there is no better time to resume this tradition that we had put on hold for some years.

Ten years: it's easy to say, but for Pablo and me, it represents a third of our lives.

A third of our lives is dedicated to learning, growing, failing, and fighting. Fighting against so many things: ideas, slights, imposter syndrome, and even against ourselves, our own paradigms, ideas, and prejudices.

We have grown... a lot

Throughout all these years, we have grown a lot and improved, but we have also failed, we've made mistakes, and from that, we have learned (there has been much learning). For this, we also want to thank all our clients who have been with us since the beginning; they have always trusted us and are the reason we are here.

From day one, we started to build our own concept of what technology and innovation should be, one that is based on mutual trust. At the beginning of this great adventure, our drive and youth were what helped us move forward; like many entrepreneurs, we wanted to conquer the world. From our mistakes and thanks to the trust of many people, we learned how important it is to maintain transparency, honesty, and good relationships with all our clients. Sometimes we will have different ideas, but our goal has always been the same: to build great products that help people make their daily lives easier.

We have been patient

We have been faithful to our principles in this industry that moves at a dizzying pace, full of people who become experts in a topic overnight, and in such a hyper-connected world. We have found satisfaction in taking the time to build each project with the dedication and attention to detail that they deserve. Maintaining that spark has only been possible thanks to the four generations that have been part of the team. Many of them were our friends before being part of Pixela, and many others became friends along the way. We have taken the time to teach and to let ourselves be taught; for us, technology will always be a collaborative path. Thank you to everyone who has boarded and disembarked from this ship; you all hold a little piece of our hearts.

Over the years, the drive has not diminished, and our youth has turned into maturity and experience. Pixela, like a child, has also matured with us, but something that is very clear is that adaptation and change will always accompany us on this journey. Something we knew from the start is that it wouldn't be easy; as much as we love bringing ideas to life, there is no manual that can certainly say what the best way to build a company is.

I remember with much amusement when a government agency told us that “we weren't innovative enough” and that a good example of innovation would be, for instance, “filling chocolates with a new flavor, like strawberry, for example…”. And although, of course, I don't want to over-romanticize what we do, I believe that what has stayed with me from that interaction over the years is that what matters is what’s on the inside. For Pixela, the strawberry filling in our virtual chocolates will always be that we do everything with passion; we are not seeking special recognition for it—I cannot imagine doing what we do any other way.

Of course, we have improved; much of who we are is also thanks to the support, patience, affection, and guidance of our mentors. Some inspired us to dream crazier ideas, others helped us keep our feet on the ground, and others gave us the necessary tools to persist. I will never be able to finish thanking all our mentors, in different latitudes of the world, for how much we have learned from them. Therefore, our commitment will always be to offer guidance and share our experience with the new generations of technology leaders in our region.

It is not about technology

After all these years, I want to confess that Pixela has never really been about technology; it has been about opportunity. Giving ourselves the chance to be creative, giving new talents the opportunity to develop without the need to emigrate, giving people a space to learn and explore their capacities while still being themselves. Pixela has been, and will always be, about allowing us to explore freely: recording audio, making animations, writing scripts, giving presentations with lots of memes, and an endless number of other ideas.

I am very aware that this opportunity is also a privilege that we have thanks to our family. Our grandparents, siblings, but above all, thanks to our parents; we hope that every step we take is in honor of their effort, their scolding, their sleepless nights, and their eternal love.

I must admit that, in recent years, the desire to write these little posts had waned. I felt like there wasn't much to say and that whatever I could say would feel repetitive. But I believe that in the age of “the rise of the machines,” authenticity and heart are still very necessary, especially in a world with so many crises and so much chaos.

I want to think that we still have a lot to give. I don't think the ideas or the desire to keep building great things are going anywhere, and I am sure that the best version of this company, which started with four desks in Pablo’s room, is yet to be seen.

From here on, we will continue to develop ideas for the world, from this distant territory in the center of America, for many eons.

Of one thing, I am certain: what makes Pixela special are all the people who have been with us. Again, to all of them and to those who read this post: Thank you!

End of communication.
